Pastor of Family MinistriesMy Life Story
I was born in Edmonton, Alberta, but grew up in Mississauga Ontario in a home where Christ was proclaimed. My parents are Christ-followers, and there are several generations behind me of those who loved the Lord. From as far back as I can remember, I went to church weekly, and was taught by my parents the Word of God. As a child, I professed Christ as my Saviour and Lord, and as I grew up had a sense of God’s presence with me. I knew the difference between right and wrong, felt conviction when I sinned, and in my heart had a desire to please Him. Yet the battle I faced so often was truly allowing Christ to reign in my life as Lord.
Throughout my later teenage years and into my early twenties, God, in His grace, used a series of people and circumstances in my life to bring me to a place of brokenness so that He could begin to teach me what it meant to really follow Christ with my whole heart. In the summer of 1999 following my graduation from McMaster University, I recommitted my life to Christ and to following Him with complete surrender.
In 2001, I enrolled at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and moved to Chicago. This turned out to be a significant season in my life, in part because I was introduced to the ministry of Harvest Bible Chapel. Following my time in Chicago, I joined the pastoral team in November 2002 at Harvest Bible Chapel in Barrie, Ontario, where I served until June 2010. This was a tremendous season of ministry for me that included many joys and challenges. It was all during this time that God blessed me richly when I met and married my wife Adrienne, and then gave us three amazing boys, Ari, Isaac and Elias.
In August 2010, God led us to Harvest in Oakville, where we have been blessed to join an amazing team of people committed to serving the Lord with great humility. We have also been blessed in 2011 with the addition of our daughter Zara.
Hope For Harvest
My hope for Harvest comes from Jeremiah 17:7-8 which says, “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit”. The key to fruitfulness for this ministry is found in the place of humility and complete dependence on God. When we trust in anyone or anything other than God, we can expect dryness and fruitlessness. But as we seek to be humble and trust in the Lord, remaining deeply connected to Christ, we can be free from anxiety and fear, and instead have the courage to overcome any challenges that will come and see fruitfulness in ministry to the glory of God.
