    My Life Story

Worshipping God had been passed down through many generations in both of my parent’s families. Born in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, it was basic to farm-life to rely on God for His provision and sustaining of weather, livestock and crops. It is these earliest recollections of being grateful to God for His provision; rejoicing and giving thanks with family that the hay crop was in ahead of the rain - seeing God's faithfulness and provision; is what I believe was the small seed of my faith.

Life in a small rural community meant that in order to pursue an education beyond high school; leaving home was a necessity. I moved to Halifax in 1978 to go to university and welcomed the opportunity to leave behind the farm life and expectations of church attendance. Seems my upbringing, however, was fully engrained in my lifestyle. By the time I graduated and settled into a career, I recognized something was missing in my life and searched out a church to complete what I thought was missing on the check-list. As was modelled in my family, I began to take on servant and leadership roles in that church even before being aware that I was not a fully devoted worshipper of Jesus Christ. I was simply following the model set out before me by my parents. God continued to gently work His will in my life and eventually I recognized that works alone did not satisfy my need; only Jesus Christ could fill what was missing on my check-list.

After some years, I met my husband and after a couple of years of marriage, was transferred with his work to Ontario. I left a career behind and became a full-time at-home Mom of two daughters. I met a friend who introduced me to Bible Study Fellowship, an international bible study that had a class in Oakville and it was there I learned with greater depth and understanding, who Jesus Christ is and what His death meant for me. Following the example set by my mother, I became involved in leadership with BSF and the church we were attending. It was when our oldest daughter was 12 that I began to pray to be led to a church to meet the desire I had for our children to find a bible-teaching youth group where they were free to discover who Jesus Christ is for them – that search led us to Harvest Bible Chapel. God has proven Himself faithful to those desires and has provided a solid understanding for my children of what the Bible teaches in such a way that they are fully engaged in what they are learning through that youth group and the sermon teaching each week.

God called me to serve at Harvest Bible Chapel through Harvest Kids teaching and then eventually, Small Group Leadership along with my husband. After working in the church office on a part-time basis for two years, was asked to assume the role of Women’s Ministry Coordinator in the spring of 2010.

    Hope For Harvest

My hope for Harvest Bible Chapel is that with its continuing ministry growth, it be used by God and considered a leader amongst churches in the area; to provide leadership teaching and training opportunities in order to grow those churches and strengthen the body of Christ as a whole.
