Ministry Overview:
Compassion Ministry at
Harvest is built on our overall purpose of glorifying God through the
fulfillment of the great commission in the spirit of the great commandment. We
desire to reach out to people in need in our Harvest church body, our local Oakville community and
the Greater Toronto and Hamilton area.
In reaching those outside
our church body we recognize that “if anyone is in Christ, he is a new
creation. The old has passed away, behold, the new has come.” (2 Corinthians
5:17) As we serve those who have great needs we know that the starting point
for their real life transformation begins with salvation.
Mission:
To proclaim in word and deed
the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those who need help and to whom God calls us.
Vision:
To involve people in our
church in compassion ministry opportunities that God has called us to and
prepared us for. (Ephesians 2:10)
Values:
- Witness We are bold
witnesses of our Lord Jesus Christ as we reach out in word and deed. (Acts 1:8)
- Service We willingly
choose to serve sacrificially, in keeping with the command and heart of God. We
intentionally look for the interest of others to serve them at their point of
need. (Philippians 2:4)
- Dependence We knowingly serve, not counting on our wisdom or strength but in
full dependence on God. We know it is only in and through Jesus Christ that
people will receive what they truly and desperately need. Prayer is our
foundation and indicator of our full trust in Him. (Jeremiah 33:3)
- Example We look to Jesus Christ as our example in our service to others. (Mark
10:45)
- Teachable We serve with a teachable and humble
spirit, knowing we desperately need God’s help and that with Him all things are
possible. (Luke 1:37)
